REVISTA PORTUGUESA DE DIREITO CONSTITUCIONAL | PT

Presentation

Welcome to the website of the Portuguese Review of Constitutional Law (PRCL), an online open-access law journal founded in 2021 by the Association of Advisors of the Constitutional Court (Associação dos Assessores do Tribunal Constitucional – AATRIC) with the purpose of fostering critical reflection and debate on topics of relevance for Constitutional Law and, particularly, on the case law of the Portuguese Constitutional Court.

Editorial Charter

Successor to the journal Jurisprudência Constitucional, the Portuguese Review of Constitutional Law aims to establish itself as a space of plural and openly accessible expression in a digital format, and is committed to ensuring respect for the deontological principles and professional ethics of all those involved in its elaboration, as well as for the good faith of its public.

The core purpose of the PRCL is to promote critical reflection on the case law of the Portuguese Constitutional Court and, more generally, on the discipline of Constitutional Law. In this context, Constitutional Law is construed broadly: aware of the reciprocal influence between this discipline and most other branches of the law, the Review is open to contributions stemming from any of them, insofar as of genuine constitutional relevance.

The Review also aims to be plural in the jurisdictions it covers. While naturally focused on national topics, it is interested in featuring analyses of the constitutional experience of other countries. Not only, but particularly, of other Portuguese-speaking countries, given the special cultural ties that bind them to Portugal, and of France, Italy and Spain, given the special institutional relations that connect the Portuguese Constitutional Court and AATRIC to their counterparts in those jurisdictions. Moreover, it aims to include the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and of the Court of Justice of the European Union, as they constitute a central reference on various constitutionally relevant issues.

Consistently with goals set out above, the Review strives for linguistic plurality as well, admitting contributions in any of the languages spoken in the mentioned jurisdictions, as well as in English.
